Kitchen Themed Bridal Shower Decorations

Untitled

As promised, today I'm sharing some of the DIY decorations made by our crafty group of bridesmaids (and one groomsman!) for my friend Kate's bridal shower!

The shower was kitchen themed so we used very "kitcheny" materials.  Oh, and we wanted everything in bright colors to match Kate's bright personality!

For the tables we made flowers from cupcake liners (inspired by this photo found on Pinterest).  Practically every flower was different, as we varied the number of liners, the liner designs, and the buttons we used.  The inner liners were flipped inside out so that the designs were visible.  Each flower is held together with a pipe cleaner that was threaded up through the liners, into a button, and back down the button and liners to be wrapped around itself a little bit.  The little bouquets were put into mason jars (still kitcheny!) with some stones, et voila!

One of the bridesmaids (Meagan) went on a hunt for green kitchen utensils, which were added to one special bouquet for the bride to be.  I think it turned out so cute!

We also put various potted herbs on the tables.  The adorable herb markers were made by the maid of honor (Kristin) and her brother/groomsman (Nehill), with THIS tutorial for inspiration (also found on Pinterest [where would we be without Pinterest?]).

The herb markers in the tutorial were painted all one color, but this crafty sibling duo spray painted all the soda bottle bottoms white and added a little yellow paint drop in the middle to make them look like daisies!  Brilliant!

For decoration on our food table, bridesmaid Lisa made this cute kitchen towel and utensil cake!  (Isn't that "Eat, Drink, Bake" spatula adorable?!)

The pom pom/flowers were made from coffee filters with the help of THIS tutorial from A Subtle Revelry.  (Oh yeah, we can really take a theme and run with it!)  Bridesmaid Sarah spent a lot of time helping me string and hang these babies over the windows and doors.

We also hung some up on our photo booth, but more on that in another post...

Have a great weekend my friends!!

  2. What fun decorations! I have a soft spot for those pots of herbs and the clever daisy flowers made from soda bottle bottoms and painted! I didn't realize that Bridal showers even existed and that they were such a big affair with sit-down tables! I only ever new baby showers and had one myself when living in the U.S.! I loved it! Such a nice tradition!
